Turf & Garden Pro

Overview

Humic acid is the dark, stable component of fully decomposed organic matter. The molecular structure of humic acid is shaped by many folds and branches that create increased surface area with both positive and negative charges to hold all different kinds of nutrients and other ions in the soil solution. Quantities of 5 gallons or less ship UPS ground.  Larger quantities ship freight.

Humic acid is the end product of living cells after decomposition. There is a very low concentration of humic acid in regular soils, especially low in agricultural soils with depleted organic matter content. There are higher concentrations of humic acid in finished compost. The most potent source of humic acid is from ancient deposits of slowly decomposed organic matter preserved from ancient wetlands eg. Alaskan humus. A good humic acid will be cold water processed as a low acid extraction (about 6%). It will contain humic acid, fulvic acid, ulmic acid and trace elements.
Effects of Humic Acid on Soil:
Physical:
    •    Gets between clay particles to prevent compaction
    •    Holds 80-90% of its weight in moisture: increases water holding capacity
Chemical:
    •    Adsorbs and retains nutrients (charged ions) on multitude of exchange sites
    •    Separates nutrients (especially phosphorous) from compounds with heavy metals, making them available to plants
Biological:
    •    Improves soil matrix as habitat for biology
    •    Feeds fungi

Turf & Garden Pro contains the following

Total Organic Matter - 5.4%
Total Hydrophobic Humic Matter - 3.6%
Humic Matter - 3.6%
Total Organic Carbon - 2.7%
Total Humic Organic Carbon - 1.8%
Directions - Shake well or mix before using
Turf Application

Hose-end sprayer: Apply at a rate of 6 ozs. of concentrate per 1000 sq. ft. (20' x 50' area) of grass.
Hand sprayer: 6 ozs. per 1 gallon of water. Coverage: 32 ozs. will cover approximately 5000 sq. ft. For stressed or damaged turf, reapply in 2 weeks. Water yard after application for best results.
Flowers and Shrub Application
For large developed plants and shrubs, apply as a root drench with a dilution rate of 8 ozs. per gallon of water. For smaller flowers and plants, use a dilution rate of 4 ozs. per gallon of water. Repeat application every 3-4 weeks except when temperature falls below 50 degrees fahrenheit. For foliar sprays, rate should be 3 ozs. per 1000 sq. ft.

Note: bacteria & fungi are measured in micrograms/gram (μg/g). All others are # organisms/gram.

Astounding growth!

My wife and I bought an 1880's Victorian in Eugene, and discovered that someone had laid sod that gave new meaning to the phrase "dirt cheap" (or vice versa); a four-inch layer of thick clay with a few measly sprouts of grass sticking out of it (much like the real estate on top of my head, where pathetic sprouts now occupy what once was verdant, lush growth).

We prefer growing food instead of grass, but the only use for this sod was creating clay pots, ashtrays or possibly bricks.

While trying to locate a (now-defunct) penetrant by Safer called "Pentrex," I discovered a website for professional groundskeepers for stadiums and ball-parks.

Their acclaim for Turf & Garden Pro was nearly universal, as were the opinions of groundskeepers from universities, Public Parks Departments and tennis court caretakers.

Turf & Garden Pro even received an award from the EPA for "Environmental Leadership" ( http://tinyurl.com/letter-from-EPA )

According to Turf & Garden Pro's website: "... TurfPro USA products are 100% ORGANIC made from a raw material found in an "Ancient Humus" deposit in Southeast Georgia. The raw material is a unique natural blend of 60% marine matter and 40% plant matter that was deposited in a bowl type depression. The deposit has never been covered with overburden nor hardened in the 30 to 40 thousand years since it was formed. ..."

We couldn't wait to try it, and the results were nothing short of astonishing. A young, five-foot-tall plum tree rocketed to over twenty feet tall and produced so much fruit, branches began to break and I had to prop up them up.

My wife's cosmos - normally three feet tall - were over my head by September, and I'm six foot one! Passers-by constantly remarked on the sheer abundance of flowers and foliage, and it was all from ONE application of one quart of Turf & Garden Pro!

Along with Turf & Garden Pro, we also used Gardens Alive's "Turf Alive III" grass seed, a drought-resistant, slow-growing variety (originally from Mongolia) that sets roots to THREE FEET and only needs mowing three or four times per season. ( http://tinyurl.com/turf-alive-III ).
